A Bond of Love and Devotion:
By Lokanath Mishra
Few years ago, in a small village, there lived a young man named Rohan. He had married the love of his life, Aisha, in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by friends and family. However, their happiness was short-lived, as Rohan was unable to bring Aisha to his home due to unforeseen circumstances.

Tragedy struck when Rohan was involved in a severe accident that left him with a devastating injury – he lost his left leg. The news spread like wildfire, and soon, many people began to advise Aisha to remarry, citing that Rohan was now crippled and unable to provide for her.
But Aisha was different. She was a woman of strong character and unwavering devotion. Despite the advice from others, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She packed her bags and traveled to Rohan’s village, determined to care for her ailing husband.
Rohan was taken aback by Aisha’s decision. He had expected her to leave him, to find a better life with someone else. But Aisha’s love and commitment knew no bounds. She nursed Rohan back to health, caring for him with tenderness and compassion.
As time passed, Rohan and Aisha faced numerous challenges. They struggled to make ends meet, and the absence of Rohan’s leg made everyday tasks a daunting task. But they persevered, relying on each other’s strength and resilience.
Years went by, and Rohan and Aisha were blessed with five beautiful children. Despite the difficulties they faced, they managed to raise their children with love, care, and dedication.
As the children grew older, they began to contribute to the household income. Rohan’s eldest son became a skilled carpenter, while his daughters excelled in their studies and secured good jobs. The family’s financial struggles slowly began to dissipate, and they were finally able to live a comfortable life.
Rohan and Aisha’s love had weathered every storm, and their bond had grown stronger with each passing day. They had faced unimaginable challenges, but their devotion to each other had remained unwavering.
As they sat on their porch, surrounded by their children and grandchildren, Rohan turned to Aisha and said, “You are my everything. Your love and care have given me a new lease on life. I am forever grateful to you.”
Aisha smiled, her eyes shining with tears. “You are my husband, my partner, and my best friend. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.”
And as they held hands, basking in the warmth of their love, they knew that their bond would last a lifetime.
Few days after celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary, Rohan passed away, surrounded by his loving family. Aisha was heartbroken, but she found solace in the memories of their life together.
As the years went by, Aisha grew older, but her spirit remained unbroken. She continued to live in the same house, surrounded by the memories of her life with Rohan. Her children and grandchildren would visit her often, but as they grew older and started their own families, their visits became less frequent.
Now, at the age of 95, Aisha lives alone in her house. Her grandchildren are all established in their careers, with families of their own. They would call her every day, checking in on her and making sure she was doing well.
Despite her advanced age, Aisha’s mind remains sharp, and she continues to reminisce about her life with Rohan. She would often look at old photographs, remembering the good times they had shared.
As she sits in her rocking chair, surrounded by the silence of her empty house, Aisha can’t help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. She had lived a full life, filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
She remembers the struggles she and Rohan had faced, the challenges they had overcome, and the triumphs they had achieved. And as she looks back on her life, Aisha knows that she has no regrets.
She had lived her life on her own terms, and she had loved every moment of it. As the sun sets on another day, Aisha closes her eyes, a peaceful smile on her face, knowing that she will soon be reunited with her beloved Rohan.
The stars twinkle in the night sky, and Aisha’s heart is filled with a sense of gratitude and contentment. She knows that she has lived a good life, and that she will always be remembered as a woman of strength, courage, and devotion.
As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, Aisha’s health began to decline. But despite her physical weakness, her spirit remained strong, fueled by her unwavering devotion to Lord Jagannath.
Aisha had always been a great devotee of the Lord, and every year, she would eagerly await the Rath Yatra festival. Last year’s festival was especially memorable for her, as she had mustered up the strength to visit the Grand Road, where she had prayed fervently for the well-being of the world.
As she stood amidst the sea of devotees, Aisha had prayed with all her heart, seeking the Lord’s blessings for humanity. And as she returned home, exhausted but exhilarated, she had felt a deep sense of peace, knowing that her prayers had been heard.
Now, as Aisha lay in her bed, her eyes would often gaze towards the photograph of Lord Jagannath that hung on the wall opposite her. She would whisper prayers to Him, seeking His blessings and guidance.
Aisha’s family and friends would often ask her if she was afraid of death, but she would simply smile and say, “Why fear death when I have lived a full life? I am ready to go whenever the Lord calls me.”
And so, Aisha waits patiently, her heart filled with devotion and her spirit at peace. She knows that when the time comes, Lord Jagannath will take her to His abode, where she will be reunited with her beloved Rohan.
As the sun sets on another day, Aisha closes her eyes, a gentle smile on her face. She knows that she is not alone, for Lord Jagannath is always with her, guiding her and protecting her. And with that thought, she drifts off to sleep, her heart filled with peace and devotion.
