As I continued my journey near Ellora on 28th March 2025, I stumbled upon a serene oasis that seemed to transport me to a bygone era. Amruta Tirth, also known as Ahilyabai Holkar Talav, is a tranquil lake that has been a source of solace and inspiration for centuries.
As I approached the lake, I was struck by its pristine beauty. The calm waters reflected the clear blue sky above, creating an illusion of perfect symmetry. The surrounding landscape, dotted with ancient trees and lush greenery, seemed to whisper stories of a rich history.
I learned that Amruta Tirth was built by Ahilyabai Holkar, the revered queen of Malwa, in the 18th century. This magnificent lake was a testament to her vision and philanthropy, providing a source of water and sustenance for the local population.
As I walked along the lake’s periphery, I felt a deep sense of peace and tranquility. The gentle lapping of the water against the shore created a soothing melody that seemed to calm my mind and soul. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of connection to the countless pilgrims and travelers who had sought refuge and solace by this lake’s waters over the centuries.
As I sat by the lake, taking in its beauty and serenity, I felt grateful for the opportunity to experience this hidden gem. Amruta Tirth or Ahilyabai Holkar Talav is more than just a lake – it’s a testament to the power of human vision and philanthropy, and a reminder of the importance of preserving our natural and cultural heritage.
