As I embarked on a spiritual journey to Srisaila Devasthanam, accompanied by my wife and her sister-in-law on March 22, 2025, I felt an aura of serenity and tranquility enveloping us. Our visit to this sacred site was a testament to the enduring power of faith and devotion.
According to legend, when Goddess Parvati inquired about Lord Shiva’s most cherished abode apart from Kailasa, he revealed his affinity for Srisailam, an eternally beautiful haven nestled amidst picturesque nature. This sacred site, embodying the essence of Sri Chakra, is where Shiva-Shakti manifest as Sri Mallikarjuna Bhramaramba, bestowing blessings upon their devotees.
Steeped in ancient significance, Srisailam is revered as a site of profound spiritual importance. As one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, the Mallikarjuna Swamy Lingam holds the second position, while the Sri Bhramaramba Devi temple is the sixth among the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas. Srisailam is the only temple where these two iconic deities coexist under one roof, underscoring its uniqueness.
This sacred site has been known by various names throughout history, including Srigiri, Sirigiri, Sriparvatam, and Srinagam. Over the ages, Srisailam has been a beacon of spiritual guidance, attracting revered figures such as Narasimhaswamy in Satyayugam, Sri Rama and Sita Devi in Tretayugam, and the five Pandavas in Dvaparayugam. Yogis, Rishis, Munis, preachers, spiritual teachers, kings, poets, and devotees from various eras have sought the blessings of Sri Bhramarambika Devi and Mallikarjuna Swamy at this sacred site.

As I ventured deeper into the revered Srisailam Temple complex, I was struck by the presence of the Pancha Pandavas and Sita Devi deities, nestled within the sacred precincts. This unique shrine, dedicated to the legendary heroes of the epic Mahabharata and the revered consort of Lord Rama, adds a distinctive layer of spiritual significance to the temple complex.
The Pancha Pandavas, comprising Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva, are revered for their unwavering commitment to righteousness and their unshakeable bond of brotherhood. The presence of their deities within the temple complex serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of upholding dharma and cultivating strong familial bonds.
Alongside the Pancha Pandavas, the deity of Sita Devi holds a special place within the temple complex. As the embodiment of devotion, loyalty, and courage, Sita Devi’s presence serves as an inspiration to devotees, reminding them of the importance of unwavering dedication and the power of selfless love.
