The Price of Blind Love
By Lokanath Mishra
In the bustling city of Hyderabad lived Chandrika, an assistant professor in a private university. She was respected, educated, and known for her calm nature. Her students admired her, and her colleagues trusted her judgment.
But even the wisest minds can falter when the heart takes control.
At the same university worked Ayub, a driver. He was soft-spoken, attentive, and always ready to help. Chandrika barely noticed him at first. Their worlds were different—socially, professionally, and culturally. She kept her distance, guided by family values and practical thinking.
But Ayub noticed her.
And he was persistent.

The Beginning of Illusion
Ayub began with small gestures—waiting a little longer to ensure she reached home safely, asking about her day, offering help even when it wasn’t required.
“You deserve someone who truly cares,” he would say.
At first, Chandrika dismissed him. But slowly, his constant attention began to feel comforting.
He confessed his love.
“I don’t want anyone else. You are enough for me,” he insisted.
Chandrika hesitated—but eventually, she gave in.

The Web Tightens
Their bond deepened quickly. Ayub shared stories of hardship—family struggles, financial crises, dreams he couldn’t achieve alone.
Chandrika, moved by empathy, began helping him.
A few thousand rupees…
Then more…
Then loans…
She trusted him completely.
When others warned her, she ignored them.
“They don’t understand him,” she would say.
But the truth was—she didn’t understand him either.
The First Shadow
One day, Ayub told her he was going on a trip.
“I’ll be with friends. Don’t call or message,” he said firmly.
Chandrika agreed.
For three days, she waited without disturbing him.
When he returned, something had changed.
His voice was colder. His replies shorter.
When she asked for photos, he avoided the question. Later, he sent a random nature video.
But in the background…
A woman’s laughter.
“Just my friends joking,” he said casually.
And Chandrika chose to believe him.

The Truth That Haunts
Doubt crept in like a silent shadow.
One day, she checked his phone.
What she saw shattered her completely.
Photos of the trip—with another woman.
Smiles that were never meant for her.
Moments that he had hidden.
When she confronted him, he brushed it off.
“She’s just a friend.”
When she questioned further, he did something worse than lying.
He blocked her.
⸻
The Trap of Desperation
Chandrika begged him to come back.
She apologized—even though she had done nothing wrong.
He returned, but not with love—with control.
“I’ve blocked her,” he claimed.
But his behavior didn’t change.
He became distant, rude, and manipulative.
Whenever Chandrika asked questions, he would threaten:
“I’ll block you again.”
And she was terrified of losing him.
By then, she had already given him more than ₹3 lakh—money she didn’t even have. Loans she couldn’t repay. A burden she couldn’t share with her family.
She was trapped—not just emotionally, but financially.
⸻
The Living Nightmare
Ayub continued seeing the other woman—his ex, who was already married.
And Chandrika knew.
Yet she stayed.
Every day became a struggle—tears, anxiety, sleepless nights.
She prayed endlessly.
“Does karma exist?”
“Why is he happy while I suffer?”
“Will he ever realize my love?”
But the silence of reality was more terrifying than any answer.
⸻
The Real Horror
The horror was not betrayal alone.
It was loving someone who had no guilt.
Trusting someone who saw her as an opportunity.
Losing herself for someone who never valued her.
Chandrika, once strong and confident, became a shadow of herself.
And still…
She hoped he would change.

The Awakening
One night, sitting alone, Chandrika looked at her reflection.
She saw exhaustion. Pain. Emptiness.
And for the first time, she asked herself:
“Is this love… or is this destruction?”
In that moment, a painful truth emerged:
She was not in love anymore. She was addicted to hope.
⸻
The Lesson for All
Chandrika’s story is not just a story—it is a warning.
- Love should never demand your dignity.
- Care should not come with control.
- Trust should not lead to exploitation.
- And no one who truly loves you will make you suffer like this.
⸻
Final Words
The world is not always filled with monsters that look frightening.
Some come with kind words, gentle smiles, and promises of forever.
And if you love blindly…
You may not lose just your heart.
You may lose yourself.
