Lina & Dipti
By Lokanath Mishra
Lina and Pranab’s love marriage had been a fairytale come true. They had built a life filled with love, laughter, and happiness. Their three daughters were the center of their universe, excelling in high school and bringing joy to their parents. Pranab’s furniture shop flourished, while Lina dedicated herself to nurturing their children and home.

However, their idyllic life was disrupted when Pranab’s sister requested to keep her sister-in-law Dipti, a divorcee, with them. After some discussions, they agreed, and Dipti moved in. Initially, she seemed like a pleasant addition to the family. Dipti was 25 years old and a software programmer who was working in an IT company in Bangalore city, where Pranab and Lina stayed with their children . Pranab a 48 years old business man was doing his business very well.
But little did Lina know, Pranab’s actions would shatter her world. He grew close to Dipti, and their relationship crossed boundaries. Dipti became pregnant, and Lina’s world crumbled. She struggled to comprehend the betrayal, feeling like she’d been living in a dream that had turned into a nightmare.

As the truth sank in, Lina’s heart broke into a million pieces. She thought of her children, her home, and her marriage, wondering how this could have happened. The family dynamics were about to change forever, and Lina would have to find the strength to navigate this new reality.
The question lingered: How could the man she loved and trusted above all else betray her so deeply? The pain and heartache seemed insurmountable, and Lina’s future hung in the balance.

Dipti’s decision to keep the baby added a new layer of complexity to the situation. Lina, already reeling from the shock of her husband’s infidelity, felt trapped and helpless. With three young children to care for, she couldn’t imagine leaving the house and starting anew.
Pranab, on the other hand, maintained a deafening silence, pleading innocence despite the overwhelming evidence. His lack of accountability and refusal to take responsibility for his actions left Lina feeling frustrated and betrayed.
As the days turned into weeks, Lina struggled to navigate this new reality. She was torn between her love for her children and her desire to escape the toxic situation. Dipti’s presence in their lives, and the impending arrival of the baby, added to the tension and uncertainty.
Lina’s future hung in the balance, as she grappled with the difficult decisions that lay ahead. Would she find a way to forgive and move forward, or would she choose to forge a new path, one that prioritized her own well-being and that of her children? Only time would tell.
With a heavy heart, Lina made the difficult decision to allow Pranab to remarry Dipti as his second wife. Despite the pain and betrayal, she chose to prioritize the well-being of their children and the unborn baby. The marriage was solemnized just before the Covid lockdown period, and Dipti gave birth to a baby boy.
As the lockdown forced Pranab’s furniture shop to close, Dipti’s salary became the lifeline for the family. Despite the challenges, the family adapted, and Lina’s daughters grew fond of their new half-brother. To Lina’s surprise, she too found herself loving the little one dearly.
As time passed, Lina and Dipti developed an unexpected bond. They began to see each other as sisters, rather than rivals. The tension and animosity dissipated, replaced by mutual respect and affection. The family lived happily, with Lina feeling a sense of relief that she had made a decision that worked for everyone.
In the end, Lina realized that her decision to allow the remarriage had been the right one. The family had come together, and love had conquered all. She was proud of the way they had navigated the complexities of their situation, emerging stronger and more loving as a result.
