Before the construction of the temple, Bhagwat Puja used to be held on this hill. The people of this village worship Lord Govardhan for rain. In 1912, the Neem trees of Nabakalebara of Lord Jagannath were collected from this same forest for Lord Sudarshan.
Chakradhar Pradhan of Fatehgarh village started the construction of the temple at the top of the hill and later the villagers cooperated. The villagers of Fatehgarh formed a committee in memory of this site and started the temple work after some time.
A children’s park and parking lot have been constructed on the hill for tourists and devotees. Fatehgarh Ram Temple is one of the famous temples in Nayagarh district.
