X X The Absent-Minded Lecturer
By Lokanath Mishra
A beautiful young lady lecturer joined a big college, renowned for her academic excellence and absent-mindedness. Her reputation preceded her, and students eagerly anticipated her talk.

One day, she approached the library counter and requested postcards, stamps, and envelopes. The librarian politely informed her that she was in the wrong place – this was the library, not the post office. The lecturer was mortified, exclaiming, “Look at me, I must have then dumped the books on the counter of the Post Office.” The post office was conveniently located just opposite the library, making the mistake even more amusing. In class, she attempted to explain the concept of limits using a concrete example. She said, “Suppose ‘a’ is the limit of ‘x’, ‘x’ can approach ‘a’ but never cross ‘a’. I shall give you a concrete example. Suppose the ‘door’ is the limit for ‘me’.

I can approach the ‘door’ but I cannot cross the ‘door’.” As she illustrated her point, she walked towards the classroom door. In a moment of absent-mindedness, she briskly walked out of the room, leaving students in stitches. When questioned about the bizarre incident, she chuckled and said, “I must have crossed my limits.” Her quick wit and self-deprecation only added to the humor, cementing her reputation as a lovable and absent-minded lecturer.

She would be remembered for years to come, not just for her academic insights but also for the humor and lightheartedness she brought to the classroom. The absent-minded lecturer’s story took an interesting turn when an ex-student approached her with a proposal of marriage.

Without realizing the gravity of the situation, she gave her consent. It wasn’t until later that she realized her mistake. However, fate had other plans, and the ex-student had secured a job at a nationalized bank as a probationary officer.Despite the initial confusion, the lecturer decided to proceed with the marriage, and it was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm. Both families gave their consent, and the ceremony was a beautiful affair.

After marriage, the lecturer visited an Ayurvedic doctor who advised her to consume Brahmi Sura Sara daily to improve her memory. She diligently followed the advice, and soon her memory became much stronger. With her improved memory, the lecturer was able to navigate her married life with ease. She and her husband were blessed with two beautiful children, and they lived a happy and fulfilling life together. The lecturer’s absent-mindedness became a thing of the past, and she was able to enjoy her life to the fullest. The story serves as a reminder that sometimes, mistakes can lead to unexpected but happy outcomes. With the right support and a little bit of effort, one can overcome their weaknesses and live a fulfilling life.
