The Power of Crazy Love
By Lokanath Mishra
Pooja was more than just an elder sister to her two younger brothers, Dhurba and Rohan. She was their guardian, teacher, and caretaker, all rolled into one. Their parents worked in a distant place, where there were no schools, so Pooja took it upon herself to look after their education.

As a college student herself, Pooja managed her time expertly, juggling her own studies with cooking, cleaning, and teaching her brothers. Dhurba, the youngest, was in class 9th and was struggling to keep up with his studies. Pooja would spend hours with him every day, explaining complex concepts and helping him with his homework.
But despite her best efforts, Dhurba failed his quarterly exams. Pooja was disappointed, but she didn’t scold him. Instead, she made a lighthearted threat: “If you fail again, I’ll do something that will embarrass you in front of your whole school!” Dhurba laughed it off, but deep down, he knew his sister was serious.
But Dhurba failed again in his half-yearly exams. Pooja was determined to teach him a lesson, but she didn’t want to hurt his feelings. So, she came up with a plan.
The next day, when Dhurba and his friends were heading down the school hallway, they were greeted by a strange sight. There, sitting on the ground, wearing her nightgown, hair curlers still in, with a colorful face and a big smile on her face, was Pooja. She was holding a cardboard sign that read: “Hi! I’m Dhurba’s elder sister!”
Dhurba’s eyes widened in horror as his friends burst out laughing. He wanted to die from embarrassment, but Pooja just winked at him and said, “I told you I’d do something crazy if you failed again!”
That was the turning point for Dhurba. He never failed again in his final exams of class 9th. And every time he looked at his sister, he remembered the day she embarrassed him in front of his whole school. He realized that Pooja’s crazy antics were just a manifestation of her love and concern for him.
From that day on, Dhurba worked hard, determined to make his sister proud. And Pooja continued to support him, guiding him through the ups and downs of life. Their bond grew stronger, and they became inseparable.
Years later, when Dhurba looked back on that embarrassing incident, he smiled, grateful for the lesson his sister had taught him. He realized that sometimes, it takes a little bit of crazy love to push us to be our best selves.
